L’espace Jules Verne, SPECIAL EVENTS AND HISTORIC SPACE
Espace Jules Verne is a large exhibition space dedicated to one of the largest collection of 19th Century artifacts, all connected to Jules Verne, from outside of Europe. Jules Verne had a great impact in his lifetime and still today, he remains a source of dreams of adventure and travel on a worldwide scale. His works have been translated in numerous languages and some of his most fascinating novels have been transposed to the cinema. Think of A Journey to the Center of the Earth, From the Earth to the Moon, 5 weeks in a Balloon and the exceptional 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea that tells the story of Capitaine Nemo and his famous Nautilus submarine and L’Île Mystérieuse relating the end of Nemo’s adventure.
Here you will find posters, books, scale models, 3D slides and other collectibles. Each artefact is authentic, dating for the most part to more than 125 years ago. At the center of this exhibition, the only extant drawing made by Jules Verne himself – the original map of the Lincoln Isle, i.e. the imaginary site of L’île Mystérieuse. Jules Verne was an avid sailor and his love of the sea found an echo in the Charlevoix naval and maritime history. A masterful salute by the chef and co-owner of our various establishments. Dominique Truchon’s grandfather, father and brothers were master mariners on the St. Lawrence River. Visit the exhibition at your leisure or reserve it as a multi-function space for a special project. The space measures about 1 000 square feet (100 sq. M) and can be transformed for special events, cocktails, conferences, workshops, etc. Imagination is limitless.
